On September 28, 2024, SpaceX successfully launched the Crew-9 astronaut mission, sending a crew of astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS). However, shortly after the launch, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced it was launching an investigation into an anomaly that occurred during the mission. The anomaly involved the Falcon 9 second stage, which deviated from its expected trajectory during the deorbit burn, causing it to land outside of the designated hazard area in the ocean(Space.com). This event has sparked concern and led to …

In a groundbreaking discovery, scientists have confirmed the existence of 40 huge craters at the bottom of Lake Michigan. These craters, ranging in size and depth, have ignited significant curiosity about their origins and implications. This fascinating find is not only of geological interest but also raises questions about the lake’s ecosystem and history. In this blog, we’ll explore how the craters were discovered, what they could be, and how they impact Lake Michigan’s environment and surrounding areas. Unveiling the Lake Michigan Craters The discovery …

In the vastness of space, where light takes billions of years to reach us, new astronomical discoveries constantly reshape our understanding of the universe. Recently, Webb researchers added a crucial piece to this cosmic puzzle by discovering a lensed supernova—an event where the supernova’s light is magnified by gravitational lensing. This discovery is significant not only because of the supernova itself but also because it provides more evidence for the ongoing debate around the Hubble tension. With the help of the James Webb Space Telescope, …

Astronomy enthusiasts, mark your calendars! A sungrazing comet discovered recently could become one of the brightest objects in our sky, potentially outshining Venus. Known as Comet A11bP7I, this celestial visitor is part of the Kreutz sungrazer family—a group of comets known for their close encounters with the sun. But will it survive the intense heat and gravitational forces of its perihelion? Let’s explore everything you need to know about this comet’s journey, its potential for brilliance, and what it takes for comets to survive such …

In the world of space exploration, the rivalry between Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft and SpaceX’s Crew Dragon has captured the attention of both space enthusiasts and the general public. As NASA strives to maintain a seamless rotation of astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS), both Boeing and SpaceX have stepped up with innovative spacecraft designed to support NASA’s commercial crew program. However, while SpaceX has launched multiple successful missions with its Crew Dragon, Boeing’s Starliner has faced significant delays and technical issues. As NASA’s Crew-9 …

On October 2, 2024, skywatchers across parts of the world will witness an incredible natural phenomenon — the annular solar eclipse, commonly referred to as the ‘Ring of Fire’ eclipse. This rare event occurs when the moon passes between the Earth and the sun but is too far from Earth to completely cover the sun. As a result, a brilliant ring of sunlight remains visible around the dark disk of the moon, creating the iconic “ring of fire.” This blog will explore everything you need …
